HOLY COW!

That is my only response.

Just...Wow.

Okay, now I have had my moment, lets talk all things Grisha.

In case you dont know, this netflix series is based on the Shadow and Bone Trilogy and the rest of the GrishaVerse as set out by Leigh Bardugo. There are quite a few novels in set in this world but each of them, like any, adds to the amazing world building.

Quick Overview: Shadow and Bone Trilogy

Shadow and Bone is the first novel in the trilogy, followed by Siege and Storm and concluded by Ruin and Rising.

It follows orphan, Alina Starkov as she makes her way across the Fold (a place of darkness and nightmares) only to discover powers she didn't know she posessed. Alina and her power then becomes vital to defeating the Fold but she is not quite convinced by the leader of the Grisha Army.

The trilogy sets out the world and the powers of the grisha. You have the Corporalki, Etherealki and Materialki and they are what makes up the soldiers of the second army.

and then was followed by the Six of Crows duology and King of Scars Duology:

Quick Overview: Six of Crows Duology

Six of Crows is the first in the duology and it is concluded by Crooked Kingdom.

Six of Crows follows leader of the Crows Kaz Brekker and his unlikely group of rebels as they attempt to break into Fjerda to retrieve a very important individual. Kaz, Inej, Matthias, Nina, Jesper and Wylan have to scam their way through Fjerda, Ketterdam and many other places just to get what they are owed.

Kaz and the Crows are loosely brought into the Shadow and Bone Trilogy, I know Nina and Matthias make a brief appearance in the eairlier trilogy but in this duology we get to see different places in the GrishaVerse.

Quick Overview: King of Scars Duology

King of Scars is the first in the Duology and it is set to be concluded with Rule of Wolves on 30th March 2021.

King of Scars follows Nikolai Lantsov, our now king of Ravka, after the events of Ruin and Rising and Crooked Kingdom. Nikolai has this dark magic growin in side him and to do his part to save the country that has already been through so much he might just have to sacrafice himself.

Rule of Wolves is hitting shelves just before Shadow and Bone drops on Netflix.

Now you are caught up, lets delve into a discussion on the Shadow and Bone Trailer.

The Trailer ... dun dun daaaaa...

Shadow and Bone was picked up by Eric Heisserer and both him and Leigh Bardougo work together in producing the show and what I love so much is how Leigh has been there every step of the way. there is always a threat with adaptations that it wont justify the novels and brilliance of the world.

*cough* Shadowhunters *cough*

but just from the beginning of the trailer you can see the formation of Ravka, the Fold and Ketterdam are all dont to the most amazing degree. The cinimatography looks beautiful and it look so realistic, almost like you culd up through and join Alina's Skiv though the Fold. although, doing that might be a bit risky.

Like any TV series you want to get the best view of the world you are about to spend 100 hours watching (providing the 10 episodes are all an hour long). What I though was strange was that you had the darkling's voice playing over the series of clips when it is Alina who POV we follow in Shadow and Bone. Not complaining, I just thought it was a weirder choice thats all.

The Cast

Talking about character, lets look at the amazing cast. Its so diverse and I, personally, think that everyone of  the cast look like the role they have been put into. The first time I saw Freddy Carter as Kaz Brekker and Ben Barnes as the Darking, I squealled. Like full on high pitch squeal.

Shadow and Bone Cast

They were exactly how I pictured them and then of course there is everyone else who soooooo fits the role that they have been asigned for. The cast is also beautifully diverse which is so important these day and just adds to the brilliance of the show in general.

The main cast consists of Ben Barnes as The Darkling, Jessie Mei Li as Alina Starkov, Freddy Carter as Kaz Brekker, Amita Suman as Inej Ghafa, Kit Young as Jesper Fahey and Archie Renaux as Mal Oretsev.

With appearences from some other familliar people such as: Zoya Nazyalensky, Matthias Helvar, Genya Safin, Nina Zenik and Fedyor Kaminsky.

I am so excited and honestly don't think I can wait another month and a bit just to watch it.

What do you all think? Are you as happy with the Cast as I am?

Let me know,

Stay Safe,
